Not every shoe in a wardrobe needs to make an entrance. This edit is built around the ones that don’t — mules, slides, and low heels that get worn on the days that don’t call for a production. Valentino brings its stud hardware down to flat and near-flat formats, proving the detailing works even without height to show it off. Fendi does the same with the Baguette’s logic, applying it to slides and loafers instead of bags. Neither house treats “everyday” as a reason to simplify.
Valentino Rockstud: The Stud at Ground Level
Rockstud Mules keep the format’s signature hardware but drop the heel entirely — a flat mule with the stud detailing running along the vamp, built for the kind of day that involves more walking than sitting. Rockstud Sandals do similar work in an open silhouette, the studs placed along the strap rather than scattered across the upper, which keeps the shoe from reading as busy despite the hardware.
Rockstud Double Wedge Espadrilles bring height back into the picture, but through a wedge rather than a heel — more stable, more suited to uneven ground, with the studs running the length of the espadrille rope in a detail easy to miss from a distance and impossible to miss up close. Rockstud Heels close the group at the most formal end: a low, wearable heel rather than a statement height, proof that the house can dress the silhouette up without losing the practicality that defines the rest of the group.
Fendi: Tube Slides, Baguette Loafers and the Sabot in Between
Tube Slides appear here in three versions, and the differences between them are worth noting: the tube-shaped strap construction stays consistent, but the finish shifts enough to change the shoe’s register — one reads as a pool slide, another as something closer to daywear. It’s the same trick Fendi applies to its bags, running one silhouette through several materials until it covers more ground than a single version could.
Baguette Sabots take the house’s most famous bag name and apply its FF-hardware logic to a closed-toe mule — structured enough to wear with tailoring, open at the back for ease. Baguette Loafers and Baguette black leather loafers close the group at their most conventional, though “conventional” undersells them: the construction quality that goes into a Fendi Baguette shows up here too, in stitching and leather that most loafers at this price point skip.
