Saint Laurent & Jacquemus Bags 2026: Two Houses, One Season

Saint Laurent and Jacquemus bags 2026 — Loulou chain bag, Long Chiquito, LE 37 in five colourways

The premise of the comparison collapses quickly. Saint Laurent bags in 2026 carry a Rive Gauche precision that reads clearly in every seam — Anthony Vaccarello’s obsession with geometry, with leather that holds the exact shape he intended. Jacquemus operates from a different logic entirely: Simon Porte’s bags have always been about ease as a deliberate choice, not a default. The Provence light that filters through everything the house makes isn’t a mood board reference; it’s the reason the proportions feel slightly unexpected, why the weight sits differently on the shoulder. This edit includes both houses because neither one answers the question the other asks.

Saint Laurent: The House That Knows How to Hold a Shape

Vaccarello doesn’t rebuild the house each season. He refines it, and the refinements accumulate. Loulou in matelassé lambskin is the clearest example — a bag that has earned its place in the archive not by changing but by being exactly what it set out to be. Large and medium carry differently: the large is a statement about volume, the medium is the one you reach for when you want the bag to disappear into the outfit while remaining present. Both available in black; the medium also in a warm beige that reads softer without softening the chain.

LE 37 in supple grained leather is the shape worth watching this season. It has an organic quality the quilted pieces don’t — the leather drapes rather than holds, the proportions are looser. Same house, quieter register.

SUNSET Medium in smooth leather sits on the opposite end of that. Structured, practical in the specific way that expensive things can be practical without announcing it. For anyone moving between professional and social contexts without going home first, it’s the choice that doesn’t look like one.

The smaller forms follow their own logic. LOU camera bag in quilted leather is compact, crossbody, right for a season when the edit should be lighter. KATE clutch in grain de poudre has no room for adjustment — which is precisely its appeal. CASSANDRE MATELASSÉ document holder in quilted leather is technically a case, but it functions as a bag for anyone who prefers to carry things flat. The rectangular hardware closes the silhouette in a way that reads from across the room.

Y Tote in leather is the outlier in the edit. A shopper, but a serious one. Saint Laurent hasn’t loosened it for summer — it stays deliberate, with handle geometry that doesn’t apologize.

Jacquemus: What Happens When Ease Is the Whole Point

Le Chiquito changed something when it appeared. Le Grand Chiquito extends that shape into something that actually holds things, without losing what made the original worth noticing — the sculptural quality, the slightly unexpected proportions. The leather moves differently from Saint Laurent leather. Both read correctly; neither is a flaw.

Large Bambino in natural brings the bamboo-detailed handle that has become one of the house’s most immediately recognizable signatures. The shape holds structure without insisting on it. In the natural tone it disappears into summer dressing in the way that precisely right things tend to — by being too clearly correct to notice.

The Long Chiquito extends the Chiquito vertically, which changes the balance and how the bag sits when carried. It wears differently from the original. That matters more than how it photographs.

The Turismo series offers range. Small Turismo in the shopper format is open, practical, less precious than the shoulder version — the bag that doesn’t make you careful. The Marino, the largest form in this edit, has structured leather handles and an open top. Its implicit instruction is to organize your own things. There’s a certain trust in that.

Berlingot deserves a direct sentence: a triangular prism in leather, a shape without a clear precedent in the Jacquemus archive. It works. The reasoning is less obvious than the form itself.

For summer specifically, Le Panier Soli in large. Straw with leather trim, Jacquemus construction logic applied to a format that could easily become generic and doesn’t. The proportions are considered; the closure is deliberate. Rond Carré clutch closes the range — a small geometric evening piece that references the Chiquito without repeating it.

Two Houses, One Wardrobe

Saint Laurent Loulou medium pairs with McQueen tailoring in the way that contrasts work when both pieces know what they are. KATE clutch works alongside Givenchy or Versace for evenings — it has enough conviction that it doesn’t need to match.

Jacquemus moves through summer dressing differently. Large Bambino with Zimmermann, or alongside a Dolce&Gabbana print, is the combination the house has been suggesting for several seasons without stating it directly. Berlingot next to cleaner Saint Laurent pieces creates the kind of outfit tension that looks like an accident.
