The wardrobe shift between seasons rarely gets its own edit, but the shoes involved deserve one. Givenchy answers with the Shark Boot, a silhouette built for weather that isn’t summer anymore. Dolce&Gabbana answers with everything in between — mules that split the difference between sandal and shoe, loafers that work with tailoring, a pump that doesn’t commit to full formality. Neither house is thinking about beach season here. Both are thinking about the months that come right after it.
Givenchy: The Shark Boot in Three Versions
The Shark Boot takes its name seriously — the sole unit has a jagged, aggressive profile that reads as functional rather than decorative, closer to a technical outsole than a fashion detail. Shown here in three finishes, the silhouette stays consistent across all of them: a mid-height shaft, a construction that photographs as heavy but wears lighter than it looks. The differences between the three come down to leather treatment and hardware placement, which matters more than it sounds — the same boot in a harder black leather reads completely differently from a version with visible stitching detail.
Logo Slides close the Givenchy section at the opposite end of the formality spectrum. Where the boots are built for weather, the slides are built for the twenty minutes before or after — the house’s branding sits at the strap, understated enough to work as an in-between shoe rather than a statement.
Dolce&Gabbana: Mules, Loafers and a Leopard Detour
Leather Mules, shown in two finishes, are the most versatile pieces in this group — closed enough at the front to work through cooler weather, open enough at the back to avoid feeling like a full shoe commitment. The house treats the mule as a genuine transitional format rather than a summer leftover, and the construction backs that up: real structure through the vamp, not the flimsy build that mules often get away with.
Leather Loafers move fully into cold-weather territory — flat, closed, built for actual walking rather than posing. Slingback Pumps sit at the more formal end, a heel with an open back that keeps one foot in evening territory while the rest of the shoe stays practical. Leopard Sandals are the outlier in the group, and deliberately so: a print-forward piece that doesn’t try to blend in, included here because a transitional wardrobe needs at least one shoe that isn’t trying to be sensible.
